False Advertising

The Internet, like any other form of marketing, is a vehicle by which people can and do put forth false and/or misleading statements regarding competitors, except that the speed by which such information travels can result in a much more devastating effect than that of traditional marketing.  Myers Lin can assist clients in preventing and stopping the dissemination of false advertising claims via the Internet.  The firm can also counsel clients on the limits of comparative advertising and promotional statements and claims (called “puffery”) so that they can make legitimate statements about their products and those of others without subjecting themselves to liability.
