The DMCA provided enhanced protections and recourse for owners of copyrighted materials while simultaneously limiting the liability of online service providers.  What this means to clients is that there is now a streamlined process for notifying online service providers that a user has made content available that violates the copyrights of the owner and for removal of the infringing content.

This issue is most often seen on sites that host audio or video content.  Myers Lin has experience in sending the required notice to the internet service provider of a client’s rights to the material and working with the internet service provider to have the content removed.  In instances where the infringer refuses to remove the material, Myers Lin can pursue a client’s claims for copyright infringement.
